David Oliver Sacks, born c. 1972 is the founder and CEO of Web 2.0 companies Geni, Inc. and Yammer, Inc..
Sacks attended the Memphis University School in Memphis, Tennessee. He earned his B.A. in Economics from Stanford University in 1994 and received a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in 1998. He was a management consultant for McKinsey & Company from January through November 1999, when he left to join PayPal. He served as PayPal's chief operating officer from February 2002 until its acquisition by eBay.
Subsequently, he founded Geni.com, a family tree building and networking website. He also produced and financed the hit movie Thank You For Smoking through his independent production company, Room 9 Entertainment.
On 25 May 2006, Sacks was interviewed in an episode of Venture Voice. On 7 July 2007, Sacks married Jacqueline Tortorice. On 8 September 2008, Sacks launched Yammer at TechCrunch50.
