Social network Hyves is now offering the possibility for users to post a profile video on their profile page. The service will initially be available only Hyves Gold Members. These can place a self-made film of music video on the place where the profile photo used to be. All standard extensions are supported, so that films can be made with a mobile phone or digital camera.
More on Facebook now has more users than Hyves in the Netherlands, a study by Newcom Research revealed. Facebook recorded 4,979,000 users in the Netherlands at the beginning of June, slightly over Hyves' 4,854,500 number. The number of people who used to be part of Hyves, but are not anymore was twice as large (16%) as that of Facebook (7%). For everyday use, Facebookers are more active than Hyvers (44% versus 34%). Meanwhile, 64 percent of Hyvers also have a Facebook account. Conversely, 62 percent of Facebook users also had a Hyves account. The study approached 8,431 Dutch respondents with internet access over the age of 15.
